I just spent about 37 hours downloading the August Visual Studio 2005 CTP. It installed quickly and without issue. That’s a big step forward. It has one little, miniscule, tiny, insignificant bug though. The backspace key does not work. That’s not a problem though. I never make typing misteks.   Update: Ok, I isolated this problem. If I select a word in the code editor and press backspace the word is removed but the backspace key is inop . The other keys work fin ... [ read more ]
So in ASP.NET 2.0 you can have validation groups so one set of fields can be validated when a certain button is clicked and another set of fields on the same page can be validated when another button is clicked.  I don't find myself needing this too often, but this is fantastic for when I do need it.  However, I've recently found a place in one of our applications where we needed it and we're using ASP.NET 1.1.  How to get around it?  This gem of an article describes a kind ... The book is not out yet (September 14th) but I already pre-ordered it from Amazon :) I've been following both Brad's and Krzysztof's blogs and know the book is goi ... [ read more ]
…and it is not even published yet.   We asked Bill Wagner (of Effective C# fame) to review a draft of the manuscript.   His feedback was very helpful polishing the text and hopefully you will find his review (or is that preview) of the book helpful as well… btw, you can pre-order the Framework Design Guidelines on Amazon already ;-)   Thanks for your kind words Bill!
