No sooner than we get VB 8 or VB.NET 2005, than those guys in Redmond are whipping up excitement about VB 9, which will be part of the Visual Studio version currently named Orcas. In this link to MSDN TV, Paul Vick and Amanda Silver talk about LINQ, or Language Independent Query. I'm a big fan of MSDN and TechNet webcasts because they're a great way to learn. It's almost like having year-round PDC or TechEd. And multi-part webcasts can cover a lot of ground. MVP Kim Tripp's series late last year on SQL Server for developers was hugely successful, and Kim took the time to augment the actual presentations with extremely useful notes on her blog at http://www.sqlskills.com/blogs/kimberly/ . Fritz Onion has written an interesting Extreme ASP.NET column in the January issue of MSDN Magazine about subtle changes in the codebehind model in ASP.NET 2.0.
